Clock divider in 200e?

Clock divider in 200e?

2009-12-18 by dougc356

Hi folks, I need a clock divider.

Here's the use case:
281e->Strobe input on 250e. Every x strobes, I want an event.

Can I use the 266e for this? To be honest I am still a little confused about its center section. Seems a quantized value with N=2 could be used to get a division of 2 if you could eliminate the random element entirely, and one of the quantized values was sufficient to trigger a 281e.

I'm thinking of getting a second sequencer and I want to relate them through a divider. At the moment my plans are stuck.

Thanks,
Doug

Hi Jon, I wish I could get one of Chris Muir's modules!

you can use a triangle wave into a 256e to double its frequency. then
send that into the other 256e sections to get 4x, 8x, and 16x. now you
can use the 16x output as your clock pulse and the others as divisions.

or you can get chris muir's module which has a built in pulse divider.

thanks,

use pulse 1 or 2 out of the 250 and only program a pulse for every X stages.

Example:

1. Create an 8 stage loop on the 250
2. Clock the 250 with the pulse output of the 281e
3. Configue the pulse 2 output of the 250 so that it only fires a pulse on stage 1

You now have a clock divider that outputs 1 pulse for every 8 from the 281e. This is a simple example, but you can get all kinds of fancy with it.

Hi Matt, this doesn't really work when you are using strobe mode. The stages are not necessarily selected in order. In this case you need to divide the strobe pulses directly.

Holy cow thanks for this trick. It's a clock multiplier! And it can be skewed. Really cool.

Hi folks, I just realized that a single stage of the 281e can be used as a clock divider of sorts by setting the attack high enough and monitoring the pulse out.

I can't believe the run of beautiful sounds the 200e made today.
