I've had a 285e for about a week now, and I'm having a lot of fun with it. Both sides really sounds great. It's a flavor that I've really been wanting. It doesn't get a lot of discussion here, so I thought I'd mention it. - C Chris Muir cbm@well.com http://www.xfade.com

A couple of nights ago I discovered that you can route it into itself and it becomes another sound source in your system. Wonderful variety too. Seems like it has analog VCOs. Doug --- In 200e@yahoogroups.com, Chris Muir <cbm@...> wrote:

It's also a nice alternative to the internal AM modulation of the 259e and 261e. More pronounced effect, I think. Doug --- In 200e@yahoogroups.com, Chris Muir <cbm@...> wrote:

Try this patch - Run noise into the frequency shifter in. Route the up and down outputs full left and right. Turn the reference frequency all the way down (left). You'll hear a weird swirling effect. Note the effect disappears completely in a mono mix - the swirling comes from the signals mixing in air. Also note that the swirling frequency will change as you move your head left and right between the speakers.

I love the 285e. Very accurate and clean. Btw , I would never describe it as "subtle" ... i wonder if yours is functioning properly amnesia .... i think the ring mod section sounds good , but not nearly as good as the 111 which is my favorite ring mod of all time. But what it lacks in sonic quality is more than made up for by the flexibility :) --- On Tue, 1/5/10, dougc356 <dougc356@yahoo.com> wrote:
