Negative voltage - how to?

Negative voltage - how to?

2005-03-08 by ethanzer0

Ok I'm stumped.

How do I created an inverted version of a CV to feed to the 281e
decay? When I have a voltage raising the pitch of an oscillator, I'd
like an inverted version of that same voltage to decrease the decay
time of the envelope for that voice. I realize I can do this by
creating mirrored interpolated sequences with the 249e, however, I
would like to do this with the CV out of the MOD Osc.

Anyone? Buehler?

Use a 255 Control Voltage Processor to invert the voltage.

I hould have mentioned I am working with 200e modules only.
According to the Buchla.com website, the 255 is not a 200e module.
So, with that revised criteria, how does one create an inverted
voltage for the 281e decay from the CV output of a 259e with just
200e modules?

The bottom section of the 210e has a "Level" knob with >0 and <0
LED's. I would assume you can give any voltage a bias, but I
dunno 'bout inverting it.

The CV matrix can't invert? This seems like a major oversight.

why not invert the voltage at the 259 so that a lower voltage would
both raise the pitch and decrese the decay time? not exactly what you
wanted, but -

Based upon your revised criteria and the available 200e module functions,
there is no way to do this.

I see what you are suggesting with that approach. That will work
just fine as long as the CV output of the 259e is triangle. But, I
do not see the effect being possible using the saw wave without an
invertor. I'll have to give that a whirl with the triangle.

Thanks for the suggestion!

the triangle, sawtooth and square wave outputs all lie in the same
voltage range (0 to 10 volts), so I'd imagine that if one shape would
work for you, the others would, too. I tried it out and it worked fine
for me.. but perhaps I misunderstand your object.
