metal in 112 touch plates....?

2007-09-12 by cuari7

With the Mattel toy lead scare still causing major worries in all of
us who have toddlers at home, I have to ask:

Just bought a 112 touch-plate KB, and need to know if I should do a
thorough hand-wash before touching my 8-month old daughter.

Ezra, are you reading this? Any thoughts?

.....and yet, I do worry. I would hate myself for inadvertently
allowing any kind of toxins in my baby, and all just from this hobby
of mine. I agree that there's too much crap in our environment, and so
I want to be able to have control over the one that I have knowledge
of. I'm sure anybody who's a daddy/mommy would understand....

My experience with children suggests that you'd want to
thoroughly hand-wash *after* touching your 8-month old daughter.

I wouldnt bring a lifeform into this world however if I did I would be more concerned with over protecting my kid and turning my child into a freakish weakling rather then just accepting that shit happens and hoping for the best.

buchla 100 touchplates have been in circulation for over 40 years. I haven't heard of any evidence that that they have caused brain damage to anyone other then those whos minds they have blown.

Ezra has been around that shit his whole life and he seems somewhat normal.. or at least hes only got the standard number of limbs etc.

I can understand the instinct to protect your offspring but freaking out about such things can only do more harm then good... perhaps the soap you use to wash your hands has chemicals which will eventually be shown to cause cancer.

relax, hang out with your kid and enjoy your buchla.

You know what, I heard those things are super dangerous. The minute
you touch one it is instant painful death. You better send it to me to
dispose of properly.

Yeah, I hear you...
Boy, gotta tell you, this thing's responsive! Triggers on the lightest
touch. Problem with the "pressure" sensitivity (which is actually
surface-area sensitivity) is that it goes from lowest to 100% with the
faintest increase in touch (not unlike the Serge TKB, though).

Still a blast to play with.

And BTW, I did hear that Ezra is hung like a donkey from all that lead
(just kidding, Ezra!!!).

;-P
