Prevent polynominal factor of -1?

Prevent polynominal factor of -1?

2008-10-26 by Shawn D. King

Hello all,

When I obtain a polynominal result of the form -x^a...+n, my HP
factors the -1 on the first term so I have -(x^a...-n). Now I realize
this may either be a more formal method or provided for ease of
readability (personally, I prefer it); however, I need to prevent
this automatic factoring so my g/f (who is most assuredly NOT
mathematically inclined) can easily see each complete term of the
polynominal. I definitely do not want her to have to distribuite the -
1 herself. *shudders at thought*

Q: Is disabling this "feature" possible? If so, how? If not, are
there any "workarounds" such as user programs which will do what I
require?

My background: "Grew up" with a HP28s. Had it for almost 20 years--it
got me through my EE degree. Obtained my 50g in May. So I know my way
around RPN, User RPL, and other basics. But I'm still learning (and
likely will be for some time) about the 50g. :)

I've tried everything I could thing of, including a Google search,
without success. Any help greatly appreciated! TIA.

~Shawn

I'm not sure if there is a way to disable, I don't think so. Try FDISTRIB (found at CONVERT -> REWRITE)

Thanks, that did do the distribuiton. :) Still a bit ugly, as I now
have a +- between some of the terms. But this should suffice.
