I only can tell you something about the dokunmentation of hp, pcl5.
There exist a technical reference manual package for HP-GL/2 and PCL5.
You can buy it from a HP Dokumentation Sevice.
In Germany it is possible to buy it from M. K. Computer Electronic gmbh.

This information is from the 03.2002. I hope this information is valid
today, too.

For the other printers I have no idea.
