It's a matter of fact that the "real world" is analog , not digital .
Maybe your ES keyboard has better D/A converters , or a better output 
stage ? Even if 95% of the keyboard electronics are digital you must 
convert the data into an analog signal , amplify it and/or adapt the 
output impedance ... and this could be more "tricky" than generating 
waveforms and filtering them with a DSP .
To take some examples , some speakers could sound better than others 
with your amp, whatever their price , size or anything else . There is a 
"tube revival" both in instruments or HiFi amplification , and however , 
on a purely electronic point of view , tube amps are not outstanding 
compared to solid state electronics (frequency response, rise time, 
signal/noise ratio ...).
