The sound is clean and can be delicate or quite ballsy. I like the clean sound and wish my real analogs sounded that clean. It's a lot of work to get them to sound as good. The Virus also creates a wide range of sounds that a classic analog can't touch. Over time, as I've lived with the Virus b, I have grown to appreciate it much more. I'm curious.... how much time you have had with the Virus to form your opinion? Was it in your own studio environment where you can rely on the monitoring environment to accurately depict what you are hearing? I think it can make a difference on how you perceive any synth. When I first got the virus b I thought it was great, but with time it has grown beyond that. Maybe I'm just used to it's sound by now... I don't have to worry about the DSP thing. I have enough synths to spread the sound chores around. I agree that maxing out a DSP synth will result in poorer performance. But, the Virus b is anything but background. Sayer
