Prior to MARS Music going belly up I spent some time playing a KP1
strapped onto the outputs of a Boss DR-202 - what a blast! The KP2
addresses all the shortcoming of the KP1.

And about that browser cache...;-)

Hhhmmm, where have I heard THAT before?!? Oh yeah, AN1x-list.

I need to email Pete - is he still with WMC? Didn't see him the last
two trips up there - probably bad timing. Otherwise I'll consider
a 'b-stock' from 8thStreet in Philly.

...so I bring home the 'Safeway Special' bouqet of flowers the other
day and what do I get? "Uh oh, what did you do..." ;-) hahaha

I've always felt a mix of both is ideal - that said, there are some
cases where hardware is the best solution and/or vice versa.

I've recently ordered the Logic Pro upgrade which a) includes the
entire suite of Emagic softsynths AND the new Space Designer
Convolution Reverb and b) get me the 'Freeze' function which will eek
out a few more months of usefulness of the old 'G4' desktop Mac. I
was about to spring for their Synth Collection just to get ES2 and
EVOC when this deal came around! I already use EXS24 and ES1 - the
other mini-E* synths are okay for specific roles but they are limited
in scope and function. ES2 will be a panacea until I get off the
fence to replace my MWII (already bought a PPG V.2 on blowout from
Sam Ash but it's more a retro thing.)

I still have Absynth from NI which sounds amazing but I have zero
patience for programming the multi-stage envelopes - which is kind of
the point behind Absynth. You can always hobble together a patch
using cut & paster but it's not as gratifying :-/ This is the same
problem I had with the Korg Wavestation - I had zero patience for
programming Wave Sequences (expect the same of XPhraze but I haven't
tried the demo yet.) So, the synths I've found most interesting are
the ones I hate programming...

Pro53 is okay - I like it a lot - but it is redundant to the AN1x as
far as programming spec's and sound. I got it on blowout dirt
cheap...still use Battery but PhatmaticPro is on my hit list. I was
going to blow it off but then I got the correct AU demo working - and
then I downloaded some of the Bitshift loops expecting them to be
crap but they were REALLY good...

The Novation V-Station plug in is verrrry cool - as is impOSCar. And
have you heard Zebra? I downloaded Chameleon 5000 demo but haven't
installed it yet. To be honest, I enjoyed impOSCar more than the
Evolver! Go figure?

Like a lot of Mac users I'm on the fence waiting for the 2nd
generation of G5 to show up before spending dollars. I've considered
an iBook G4 as an interim solution but that would probably be it for
new gear this year (Virus C + iBook = Dual G5, see where I'm going
with this?) The Virus C mean no new control surface this year
either - but that's okay for now (besides, I want to see how the
Yammmie O1x thingy works out...)
