The Yamaha AN1x Synthesizer mailing list

there may be a previous thread on this, but I have done lots of searching, and to no avail.  I 
run os x and have a copy of sysex librarian.  I've tried to send the 'london' sounds to my an1x 
several times.  Sysex says the info is sending.  My motu traveler even says that midi 
information is moving.  But the midi information does not appear to register with my an1x. 

I cannot find any information on loading patches onto my an1x in the manuals.  I am stuck.  
Please feel free to help out a synth newbie.

Hi Brian !
are your sound data fitted with the "right heading" ? I.e. : sysex 
message + instrument id (each manufacturer and instrument have their own 
id code, to prevent sending any data anywhere), followed by the patch 
data . If not, the sysex message is send by the editor, but without any 
effect on your synth .....

Hi Brian,

I'm running Mac OS X 10.4.8 and using SysEx Librarian v1.1 I am able to load the 
LONDON.MID file into my AN1x using an Emagic MT4 USB MIDI Interface.

I'm going to ask the obvious: did you check your MIDI Cable connections are correct? Are 
both MIDI cables are good? 

When you perform the bulk dump to your AN1x, does anything appear on the AN1x 
display?

In SysEx Librarian Preferences, I have the following settings - perhaps these will work for 
you too - 

Under 'General':
  Pause between played messages 154 milliseconds
  SysEx receive timeout 1 second

Under 'Transmit Speed':
  Each Port is set to 100% 3125 Bytes/sec

Let me know how it goes.

It's not sysex....it's a MIDI file! It's a sequence with a sys-ex dump
imbedded in it. Load it into a sequencer and hit PLAY.
