No, I don't think the more stringent measures are working. What I do on 'my' list on Yahoo is requiring approval for registration, and moderate their posts until the first one that is on-topic. - Peter

As mentioned, it will take a little while to weed out the 'lurking' subscriptions that were unaffected by the change in moderation for new subscribers. We will clean them up as quickly as possible. yep in this case, I think the best bet is just set everyone in moderation now, let your legit users posts and unset them .. leave the rest ... you got sleeper spammers now in the group... I had a few in a group I took over a while back... every so often, a spam ... set them all in moderation, then unset the real users ... problem gone .. this does not help the member number as you will never know the true number of legit users esp. if the spammer sets his email to no email .. no bounce then on post to know that account has been deleted ... so my next trick is, set members to email who have not posted in 6 months to a year ... I weed them out ... time consuming but such is the life of a owner/moderator ... there is one group I belong too, the owner/moderator only allows messages they approve .. so you get a update from that group in 20 or 30 messages at a time ... he refuses due to spammers in the past to unset legit users ... big time work for him ...but members there seem not to mind ... I have that group set in digest most of the time ... Good luck Jon on getting it back under control ... what ever you have to do, that is fine with me .... dale band web pages Inquisitor Betrayer New CD "Space Elevator" Get it at http://cdbaby.com/cd/inquisitorbetrayer http://www.inquisitorbetrayer.com , http://www.myspace.com/inquisitorbetrayer , http://www.musicforte.com/member/ib_staff and Angel's Wings www.myspace.com/lorrainekay iTunes http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?playListId=200365877 Podcast http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=204307934 New group for Jerome Froese Jerome_Froese@yahoogroups.com 16 year member of Tangerine Dream Escuchen a los Inquisitor - Musica para Inteligentes.

That's plan 'B'. Most of the offending subscriptions appear to have taken place since mid-May - we'll see how it goes for another day or two. Jon
