Hi all, I cannot find out how to disable the program change MIDI messages that are sent whenever I change the patch number while controlling another synth. I looked in the manual and I couldn't find anything but I am still skeptical. Is it possible to turn that off? Thanks in advance!

Possibly, you would need an external MIDI filter for this. But what sort of set-up do you have that requires you to change the program, but only locally? Or are you using the sound engine of both the AN1x and the external synth? On my EX5, you can set several zones on the keyboard, and per zone indicate whether a zone goes to the internal sound engine, MIDI out A, MIDI out B, or any combination thereof. But program change messages are still transmitted. - Peter

Possibly, you would need an external MIDI filter for this. But what sort
of set-up do you have that requires you to change the program, but only
locally? Or are you using the sound engine of both the AN1x and the
external synth?
On my EX5, you can set several zones on the keyboard, and per zone
indicate whether a zone goes to the internal sound engine, MIDI out A,
MIDI out B, or any combination thereof. But program change messages are
still transmitted.

Hi Peter, Yes I am playing the AN1X with another expander. I can just turn the volume off on one synth or play both in dual. I can also split the keyboard and control an expander on a voice that I mute locally and play the AN1X on the other side. In fact both parts are still transmitting on the same channel but it doesn't really matter when the expanders are monophonic, it won't change the note as long as I hold it down even if I press another note on the other keyboard side. The AN1X allows to set 2 different channel for receiving on each voice but I was also looking to set it up to transmit on 2 different channel when splitting the keyboard. That would have been nice! But I am still very happy it can to transmit over the sequencer/arpeggio on another channel. I was surprised we can't disable the transmission of program change messages since I have this option on other machines. It is really annoying when I am working on a patch on the expander and I want to look for another patch locally. Since the other machine is right in front of me, I don't need to change the program by MIDI. Anyways, I guess I will have to get used to first select the patch on the AN1X before to select the external synth patch. Hi Jammie, Yes I have an option to disable SysEx messages on the external synth. I turned it off and it didn't work so it means it is using MIDI CC. Can I setup the ANX1 to transmit SysEx messages instead? I will look in the manual but I don't remember seeing this option. Thanks --- In AN1x-list@yahoogroups.com, "jammie" <jammie.emma@...> wrote:

Hello ! maybe you can try another way : look at your other instruments, some synths can filter incoming program change messages. In my personnal instruments only the Kawa K1 can send or not program change messages (and a few others but i don't remember...). Cheers. J.F. Peter Korsten a crit :

I can only disable program change transmission on my MS2000 and I have also seen it on the MC-808 I just replaced for a RMX1. I think I will really have to get used to first select the patch on the AN1x. I will pardon the AN1x for this little weakness with all the great features and sound it gives me!
