in the factory presets--"sub sub" is a nice bass patch. Sounds almost like an organ bass with a little distortion if played hard and the note held. Fits nicely in a mix.

Hi all:

Could someone please recommend bass patches, or bass programming tips. Mine just don't have the thump.

Thanks

Wrote a bass patch using FM. I put it in OSC SYNC mode, with FM on the slave only (so it would be in tune). Nice fuzzy bass. I recorded it. Didn't have enough thump.Since I recorded the MIDI, I simply dialed up a patch that only had a sine wave. Two bass tracks. Plenty of thump. Worked.

Then I took the FM bass, played with the filter envelope, turned down the filter, cranked up the resonance. Serious thump. Don't need the sine wave.

Of course, with the filter turned way down, and the resonance turned up, I'm not sure if there's any point to the FM since the whole purpose of FM is to generate weird harmonics.
