Hey there

- just for info you could try MIDI-OX which would monitor your midi ports and show you exactly what is sending what, and from where.....

- that might help you narrow down the problem....
http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/MIDI-OX/download.shtml

- i was just downloading it myself do theres the link :) its shareware btw....

  Hi Timo.
All testing i have done was done with no MIDI-IN connected to the
  An1x.
Im going down to the studio later this evening and test a lot more.
One thing to do is to connect the An1x directly to a sound module to
see if one get the problem even then.
If so, the computer can be excluded from the problem.
Anyhow, computers (with windows) aaalways makes trouble, so I have
been trying to find the problem in the computer SW/HW for five months.
Yesterday however I spoted that it realy seems that it's the An1x
  making the trouble...
  Kind regards.

HUGE Midi Out Problem.

2001-11-06 by mr__K__@hotmail.com

Hi There Everyone.
I have had HUGE tech. problems for 5 months now, disabling ALL
creativity.
Random MIDI-notes appear in Cubase or whatever sequencer i use, many
at a time.
I have investigated a LOT and do know very much of
computers/soundcards etc.
Yesterday I found out that it seems to be my AN1X, which I am use as
master keyboard beeing the problem.
It seems that it is sending away a bunch of notes pretty frequent on
the midi out.
I'm not sure, but it seems to be notes i have pressed on the keyboard
before.
Is my An1x broken, is it a setting somewhere i have missed?
Does it have to do with the sequencer?

PLEASE help me..
1. I do not want to buy a stupid midi-keyboard
2. I want to tweak my anix and play at the same time.

Many thanks in advance.
Kind Regards.

This statement leads me to believe that somewhere in your chain you
are getting a midi echo, ie the notes are being repeated.
First things to check in cubase is the midi echo, is it on or off?
Second turn off local control on your keyboard, unless it's the only
midi controller in your chain.
Sorry if this seems elementary, but it's the only thing i can think
of.

Let us know how you make out?

Im off to the studio later this evening, will check the cubase
setting then.
The An1x is the only keyboard i use for note input.
The thing is that the problem stops as I remove the cable from Midi
Out.
Does MIDI-OUT only Send? or can it recieve as well?
What exactly does the Midi Echo setting in cubase do?
Local Control off? Is that having "local" set to off?
I always have "local off".
It worked for me half a year back, the problem appeared without any
change of hw or something.

Re: [AN1x-list] HUGE Midi Out Problem.

2001-11-06 by Timo Sandholm

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem with Logic on home machine. But fortunately
I was able to test it out with two different keyboards. And since both of
them were behaving exactly the same and I know that they are working with my
other computer. So I found out that it's my Terratec (cheap) soundcard that
is not working correctly.

Is your AN1x outputting midi data correctly if you disconnect midi-in plug?

Cheers,
TimoS

Re: [AN1x-list] Re: HUGE Midi Out Problem.

2001-11-06 by Phil

Hi Kristofer,

I once had a similar problem where every note was received by my sequencer
(Pro Tools) twice. One note on top of another.

As it turned out, my sequencer's list of 'input devices' were set to
register notes from my AN1x *plus* my MIDI Interface. Of course my interface
was being fed notes from my AN1x. The end result: the sequencer would
register a note from my AN1x *and* my interface. Solution: I switched off
the interface as one of my input devices.

Not sure if it helps you, but it was really bugging me for a while.

Phil
