classic rock synthesizer

I found another classic rock song that lends itself to weird
synthesizer noises. We played White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane at
the Legion Hall last night. The weird noises didn't work quite as
well on the Merle Haggard tunes.

Nice one! :-)

Speaking of classic(?) rock, I stumbled across the patch "VH Jump!" from the
Elson1.an1 collection. Spot on! For a second there in my loungeroom, I *was*
Eddy Van Halen! LOL

Same here! I wasn't about to admit to it publicly though. Ooops! I just
did... damn.

I guess "Jump" is probably classified as classic rock by now. Man I feel
old. Nice sound.

I guess it is...when kids start asking, "Huh? Van Halen had another lead
singer before Sammy Hagar?" I guess they do qualify as classic rock... :)

Yeah, it also works nicely for "Love Comes Walking In".

I don't think Eddie Van Halen was very adventurous when it came to exploring
new patches (or working outside of C Major on keys).

Still, it's a cool patch.

Well then, seeing as we're all closet Van Halen fans, can anyone play the
"Eruption" guitar solo on the An1x, using the arp if you must?

I've got a recording somewhere of "Eruption" being performed on a whopping
great church organ. Very cool!

Make sure you layer it with an E-mu Emulator piano sample :)

Phil,

>Yeah, it also works nicely for "Love Comes Walking In".

I took Elson's "Jump!" patch and morphed it into something even close for that Van Hagar tune. I'll post it to the site, in case you're interested.

And you're right: Eddie V's chops are great, but his experimentation on synth is almost zero.

Oh, and Elson's wonderful patch does extra duty in other tunes, like the guitar solo in Alannah Myles' "Black Velvet," etc. I don't use it a lot, but when the song calls for a fat, juicy sawtooth, that's usually my starting point.

Regards,

-BW

You might try creating the sound of tobacco being spit to give more
authenticity to Haggard tunes such as "Okie from Miskogie". Make sure to
key follow the envelope across the keyboard so you's can get them long,
juicy squirts as well as them little sputters that tend to tint the chin.
