The Yamaha AN1x Synthesizer mailing list

Hi all,

I'm wondering if anyone can figure out if this bass sound (From the classic Joey Beltram tecno track) is possible on the AN?

I've tried despartly, but with no luck, so any tips advice would be most appreciated

I have uploaded a short clip here for those of you not familiar:

hi peter,

that's not really bass. it's more of a lead synth
sound. it's known as the hoover sound. it's made best
with the roland alpha (i think?).

i made a hoover patch for the plg150an  and it should
be in the files section somewhere. you got to play
around with it to get the pitch envelope you want.

Cheers for the reply & sorry for the delayed one,

I checked your patch & it was close to were I'd already got, the peg 
tip was good...

the trick seems to be to stack up some detuned voices in Unison mode, 
with an LFO modulate the Pulse width to reall y thicken things up...

Still cant get the Mentasm sound though?

Obviously speific to which ever synth Beltram used thier...

Although I still cant get the Mentasm sound...

The Alpha Juno !

I kinda came close with my MicroQ but that was a while ago.  I've totally forgotten I'm afraid.  I think I may have ended up using a Tri and a Pulse though.

mate if you're talking about the old hoover sounds based on the 'what the' present in the roland alpha juno... then get a juno cos they're like 200 quid and will save you hours of trying to make a sound on a keyboard which cant quite do it. I did and i love my juno. they're wicked.
