dead AN200

2005-01-16 by Mark Daborn

Hi!

My last post was a month or so ago concerning my non-functioning AN200.
I had tried to install the new OS and it stopped recieving about a quarter of the way into it.This had the unfortunate effect of corrupting the OS so that whenever i turn it on, i get the "KRNL" display.
Since then, i have tried it on several pc's and i myself have a new soundcard. I am yet to find a way to get the AN200 to accept the data!
Does anyone have a suggestion as to what else i could try?
Thanks.

Have you called Yamaha Tech Support? It's entriely possible your dead AN200 is in need of
service.

No -- his "dead" AN200 probably does not need repair. This reply was
unfortunate -- it caused me unnecessary anxiety after *the exact same
thing happened to me* today! I consulted the Yamaha site, searched
the web, and returned to this group for information, in vain.

Happily, I refused to believe that my pampered lil' AN200 could be
dead just because the OS upgrade left it stuck on "KRNL." Solution?
Upgrade failed repeatedly on my dedicated audio PC running XP and an
early version of Cubase SX2. When I went to the trouble of using my
newer, faster work PC and SX 2.20 -- voila! Near-instant resurrection.

I fail to see what's 'unfortunate' about suggesting a user contact Tech Support after
exhausting the resources of this list.
