If you plug a keyboard into a stompbox, do you have to convert the impedance? Too hot, distortion, all that kind of stuff? Most direct boxes change high impedance to low impedance. Wouldn't a keyboard going to a stomp box want the opposite? Rainbow Jimmy

I've been mute on this one because I've never plugged a keyboard into a stomp box -- ever. As far as the tech/geek stuff goes, I know that the output impedance of a keyboard will be "line level" which is about 600 ohms IIRC. Guitars tend to be in about the 5-20k ohm range so that would tend to push a bit more voltage into the front end of a pedal than it would be designed for. So it might sound crappy or cool depending on if the pedal could handle it. Meanwhile, back at the rack, maybe you might look into a mixer with an Aux loop instead of all the expense of DI boxes. I'm using this old Korg thing that's got some Aux send/returns that have effects units on them... but of course that's all in the "line level" domain -- no stomp boxes used. From your past posts it seems you've been pleased with some stomp boxes. Maybe you're onto something by the "happy accident" mode. Or maybe the distortion is effecting your cannabis receptors orr thhe otther wway aaroundd.
