Ran an AN1x patch through an analyzer program. The synth has
frequencies up past the 20,000 hz. Does this somehow damage digital
recordings that only record up to 20,000hz. Where do the other 4-5
thousand hz go?

On the up side, you get a FM patch and look at it it looks more like a
3 dimensional spiral that a regular wave form. Tons of energy through
the whole spectrum.

They'd be filtered out. On a digital recorder with a sample rate of n
Hz, you can't record higher frequencies than n/2 Hz. So that's 22.05 kHz
at the normal 44.1 kHz CD sample rate. And they'd be filtered down from
full volume to zero starting at 18 kHz, which a low pass filter.
