Hi Peter,
You shouldn't be having these problems if you're using something like 
Fastcopy with Atari format disks. I would hazard a guess that your 
disk drive might be on the way out if you're copying to and from the 
Atari. If you're having problems with DOS formats then Tim has 
answered your question.
Barrie at Keychange can provide replacement disk drives.
