RE: [atari-midi-archives] Idea: Tribute to Bob Moog CD?

Hi Peter,

It's a fine idea. I've never owned a Moog synth, so couldn't contribute
either; although you could argue that his work affected all synthesized
music, so really, if the spirit is there, it doesn't ultimately matter
if it's recorded on a Moog synth or not...

If I'm barred from the disc, put me on the list for a copy of the final
thing.

Regards

Subject: [atari-midi-archives] Idea: Tribute to Bob Moog CD?

Hallo from Austria!

As we all are very sad about Bobs death and we are thinking of
installing something that lasts forever beside our memories about Bob I
thought of another idea beside the ANSI-fication of "moog":

What about a "Tribute to Bob Moog" CD?

Every interested member of SDIY and maybe other groups could make one
song with at least one Moog synthesizer beeing used for this song.
Someone with studio experience could master them and we could sell this
cdrom per private website or maybe if a record company would be
interested via this company.

In this way we can show that his synthesizers are still in use, whenever
we use them we can think of him and we could form our feelings (sadness,
gratitude,...) into music.

What do you all think about that idea?

Ciao
Peter

PS: As I sold my one and only moog synthesizer the Moog Sonic six about
15 years ago I am not allowed to contribute :-( But I would be very
interested what the result of such a project would be!

Hi Juergen!

For me this would be no problem.
I would even go one step further and would also count the different
Moog software imitations/clones like the Moog Arturia, Model-E,...
Because all of these programs were inspired by Bobs concepts...

Maybe a double cd could be a solution that could be accepted by moog purists.
One cd only with original moog synthesizers used and the second cd
with DIY clones, software clones/imitations.

Fine!

The question is: where to get a Moog for a reasonable price...
The power factor could be cheaper than the price for a Moog...

And also the "good or not so good" (I don't want to start a discussion war
if only the hardware Moogs count as synthesizer...) emulations are not a real
Moog synthesizer they have other advantages like patch storage, fast patch
changing,...
Beeing more portable than a Moog Modular,...
