Then you're missing some basics.  The things you're asking about, as was 
explained in a previous post, are some of the most basic when it comes 
to microcontrollers.  If you don't understand these there probably isn't 
anything here for you...not to be short with you, but that's the way it 
is.  Although simple concepts in the grand scheme of things, these are 
not items that can be explained in a few short sentences on a discussion 
board.

It sounds like you're in over your head at this point.  Maybe it would 
be better to go back and take a more basic course...or re-take one you 
may not have done well in before.
