I'd agree, and the two problems noted are ones that should be handled. Stealing parts is not ok, nor is running off with equipment that's needed. OTOH, a smart company can allow an employee to BUY parts at cost, to have their pick of surplus/excess equipment and parts, and can have a sensible policy on borrowing equipment. In my experience, the equipment borrowing usually runs in the other direction, but I just ask that it be returned on a timely basis, and in the same condition that it was loaned in. Accidents happen, but if your engineers can't be trusted to care for equipment, then I'd wonder why they are working there in the first place... KC6ETE here. :)
