One small startup where I worked, the founder wouldn't hire radio amateurs because he thought they'd tinker and play with a problem for fun instead of just solving the problem adequately for the needs of the project and then moving on. Sort of the flip side of enjoying your work. -----Original Message----- From: AVR-Chat@yahoogroups.com [mailto:AVR-Chat@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of David VanHorn Sent: Friday, December 28, 2007 11:17 AM To: AVR-Chat@yahoogroups.com Subject: Re: [AVR-Chat] atmel programmer > Some employees love radio amateurs because they're interested and > dedicated. I'd agree, and the two problems noted are ones that should be handled. Stealing parts is not ok, nor is running off with equipment that's needed. OTOH, a smart company can allow an employee to BUY parts at cost, to have their pick of surplus/excess equipment and parts, and can have a sensible policy on borrowing equipment. In my experience, the equipment borrowing usually runs in the other direction, but I just ask that it be returned on a timely basis, and in the same condition that it was loaned in. Accidents happen, but if your engineers can't be trusted to care for equipment, then I'd wonder why they are working there in the first place... KC6ETE here. :) Yahoo!
