I cannot fathom why ICE and Debugger is so expensive especially so when they are related to PICs. So far, I noticed Atmel is quite honest in their pricing on their development tools. At least, tools that are for the low-end model of their MCUs. Hence, it is true that before one decides which 'brand' of MCUs he/ she should embarked upon, the costs of the relevant tools should also be taken into consideration. I am a newbie and I started out using PICs (just follow projects appeared in magazines). But, I want to make projects that I can call them, "my projects". However, the cost of the development tools for PICs are beyond my reach. Hence, I have decided to adopt AVRs instead. So far, I have invested in a STK500, STK501 and ordered the ATICE200. Although it is not cheap but at least, I can purchase them piece-meal and yet, each can works on its own. May I know what is JTAGICE for and what is the difference between JTAGICE and ATICE200 ? I kept bumping into the term JTAGICE. cheers, Davis Jesper Hansen <jesperh@telia.com> wrote: More likely they'll make a JTAGICE like unit - a $350 unit with a mega8 and 5-6 other simple components. The debugWire protocol will most likely be secret. As usual. But well, gives the hackers a few hours of work. /Jesper www.yampp.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "John Samperi" <samperi@ampertronics.com.au> To: <AVR-Chat@yahoogroups.com> Sent: Tuesday, December 02, 2003 12:01 AM Subject: Re: [AVR-Chat] debugWIRE specifications > At 11:34 AM 1/12/03 -0800, you wrote: > > > >Check page 92 of the current ATtiny13 data sheet.
