AVR-Chat

If you are using the latest version of AVR Studio, you can install
WinAVR.  Recent versions of AVR Studio play very nicely with WinAVR. 
The latest version of Studio is also aware of the entire AVR family.

If you are comfortable with learning the use of the MAKE program, you
don't even need the Studio.

Otherwise, many of the compiler makers will let you use a code sized
limited sample version of their compilers.  The only other compiler I
have recent experience with is ImageCraft, but I know there are others
that offer this as well.  Caveat with using the code-size limited
compilers, if you are producing a for-profit item, you will need to
purchase a full version of the compiler.

WinAVR is based on Gnu GCC, it is therefore free to use for both
private and commercial programming.  It is the compiler I use when I
have the choice.
