Try BDMicro. They have some nice boards based around the ATMega128 AVR 
with loads of features for experimenting. I've been using the one with 
the screw terminal connectors for about 6 months now and I love it. 
Brian at BDMicro is very knowledgeable about his product and has been 
very helpful to me.
