ATmega1280 TinyBoard

ATmega1280 TinyBoard

2010-05-05 by Philippe C

Hi there,
Has anyone heard of siphec?
Their website shows a ATmega1280 TinyBoard that is exactly what I am in need. But noway to contact them... Are they still in buz?
Mainly, I am looking for any ATMEGA tiny board with 2 USART: one has to be rs232 the other one rs485... The formfactor having to be as tiny as possible...
thks for any advice.

Dunno - never heard of them before - but their website includes a Contact page with a graphic of their email address to reduce spam.

Hi "gm4xus",
Yop, I saw that.
The only problem is that this mailbox-contact does not reply even when you ask how to put an order... Weird!

Well,
After some "google.de" investigations, it looks like those people simply disappeared...Too bad. :(
Would anyone have another track for "stamp or tiny" board with ATMEGA including 2 USARTs (one RS232, the second RS485) ?
Thks in advance.

Try BDMicro. They have some nice boards based around the ATMega128 AVR
with loads of features for experimenting. I've been using the one with
the screw terminal connectors for about 6 months now and I love it.
Brian at BDMicro is very knowledgeable about his product and has been
very helpful to me.

Hi Trevor,
Yop, I already found them and one of their board is in the mail.
Maybe we'll speak together later on once I'll take it out of the box and will face the first questions or will share my first experiments...:)
I was looking for some form factor closer to "stamps-board"...But that one might finnaly do it if it continues to appear that nothing smaller is available ..
Thks for the advice.

Pch - I would be happy to share my experiences with this board. It's
certainly not a stamp size, but it is quite small compared to what I was
expecting. I am also using an Atmel JTAG-ICE programmer from Digikey. It
is a USB device that allows me to write code, program and debug using
Atmel's AVR Studio. Let me know when it arrives!

Hi Trevor,
Just got the board out of the box.
I started using it with a AVR ICE-Cube from ECROS tech.(compared to your JTAG-ICE from digikey that one is RS232 :( and requires a usb/rs232 converter...
So far so good, the fist lines compile and execute smoothly..
I'll keep you posted and share any potential difficulties... and success..:)
Regards
Philippe

Hi Philippe -

I'm glad to hear you received your board! The JTAG-ICE programmer that I
use is USB. It has RS-232 provisions, but I have used only the USB
interface for programming and debugging (JTAG'ing). Once you get the
hang of how to work with the board you'll love it more and more. It has
many features on-hand.

Cheers!

Will it support the 1280 for JTAG debugging??
