Actually, if you want to look for the automotive grade parts, look at something like part number ATmega168-15AZ. These are the rated more for the upper end of the scale rather than the lower end. When the data sheet says Absolute Maximum, these are the specs that the vendor will guarantee the part. However, the Atmel datasheet also states "Exposure to absolute maximum rating conditions for extended periods may affect device reliability."
