The projects I'm working on now are also using other processors.  I've got a 6 pin PIC10, an ST Micro ARM, and a Motorola processor going.  I still prefer the AVR over the PIC, but I don't always get to choose.

Pretty much anywhere.  I used AVR for a couple projects, but found that 
I could almost always find a PIC for the job that was cheaper - mostly 
due to the fact that there is a wider variety of PIC chips with 
different options.

Now I'm using LPC1xxx series ARM cortex-M0 instead of PIC even for most 
things.
