Forgot to mention: I am using PonyProg 206c on WinXP home. I remember these were 6, 7, 9, 10 and 25 though I forget what order. There are two more connections - pin 2-13 and 3-11 or something like that. I tested all of these connections and they're fine. I'm pretty sure the problem is the RESET pin because the 8535 runs without the 10k pull-up to 5V, and it even runs when I have reset connected to GND. I am using a 12V 7.2Ah SLA battery as a power source. The circuit uses a 7805 regulator with 2 electrolytic caps to produce +5V. The atmel has connections to +5V and GND through the Vcc and GND pins; XTAL1 and XTAL2 are connected to either leg of a 10MHz crystal, each with a 27pF ceramic cap to GND. AVcc, Agnd and Aref are not connected, but I am not using PORTA. There are 4 LEDs on pins PC0-3. There are many possible causes for your problem, but not knowing exactly your instalation, it will be very difficult to help. I can imagine several possible missing elements in your above text, but instead of be guessing, why dont you tell us what is in between your PC and your 8535? Wagner. Yahoo!
