It is an AT90S8535, however replacing the 10MHz crystal with an 8MHz crystal did not fix the RESET problem. I doubt this would be what caused the damage, because I know someone who runs an AT90S2313 at 20MHz, when it is recommended to run at 10MHz. Could the problem be fuses?
