The AVR would have to be a USB host - and that protocol stack is very complex/large -----Original Message----- From: AVR-Chat@yahoogroups.com [mailto:AVR-Chat@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of Thomas Keller Sent: Monday, November 14, 2005 11:39 AM To: AVR-Chat@yahoogroups.com Subject: [AVR-Chat] Interesting device On Saturday, I attended a Meet&Greet function for our local FreeCycle organization (check out www.freecycle.org for mor einformation on a wonderful movement). There, I obtained an odd thing: A USB based "Smart Card Reader" (branded for Target Stores). Included is a CD with the drivers and so on for WinBlows. In any case, it occured to me when I saw it that this might prove a useful toy to have. Wondering if anyone here has interfaced such a thing to an AVR? I know Atmel makes SmartCard chips. It may become the basis for some sort of an interesting project, eh? Well, for free it seemed like a bargain too good to pass up (much to my poor suffering wife's chagrin). Tom Yahoo! Groups Links
