Hi Ivan,

I just fumbled my way to full functionality. Apparently, I had to 
read and write the ISP clock frequency before reading or writing 
flash or EEPROM even though everything else worked...

Thanks for the quick response. You were an excellent 'sounding 
board'. :-)

It says the attainable frequency is 1.049kHz (yes, kHz). The board 
has a 14.7456MHz crystal and the oscillator is enabled and running.

This works. "Signature matches selected device"

It erased ok.
