Ian, et. al;

I think perhaps the responses to Jay are a tad overstated. Granted,
Jay was rude, but I am guessing he is relatively new to the forum. Cut
the newbies a little slack, perhaps?

Jay: I re-read your post, and frankly, I didn't see any special
emphasis on your need for a no-cash DIY solution either. I sympathize
with your situation. I doubt there are many here other than you and me
who are in the lamentable position of having ZERO cash to play with, so
I am not surprised that many of these filk consider $40 a minor
expense. For the vast majority of people, particularly those inclined
to be playing with things like AVRs, it would be.

Try to see it from their perspective before jumping down their
throats. Realize hat your (and my) situation is unusual, and cut the
regulars a little slack, just as I have asked them to cut you some
slack. They really are just trying to help, and help should always e
accepted gratefully and gracefully, even if it isn't the help you had
hoped for or expected.

That last brings up another important issue, by the by, asd I am
going to confess that I too suffer from this particular poor behaviour
in my IRC incarnation: no one *OWES* us assistance with these
questions. The fact that some of these filk are willing to expend their
time and energy answering questions from others is a boon and a
wonderful thing. Sometimes, if no one has a knowledgeable response to
make, no one makes any response at all. As disappointing and irritating
as that can be,m it is important for ALL of us to remember that the filk
answering questions here are all volunteers, and they owe NO ONE an
answer on anything. While it is natural to have expectations, it is
important to realize that in such a forum, we have no right to have
expecrarions. Period.

So, perhaps we could all just relax, and forget this particular
exchange, and move on in the generally friednly and welcoming
environment I have always found AVR Chat to represent, OK?
