RE: [AVR-Chat] Kenwood KT-6040 XS8 protocol

2006-10-31 by Doug Locke

Thanks for all the help so far, the unit is a HI-Fi separate tuner and has
two green plastic sockets on the rear labelled as XS.
The XS interface was to enable Kenwood hi-fi units to be controlled by a
"master" unit as far as I can judge and used an 8 bit serial protocol with
just a two wire connection. The interface on the cd changer is considerably
later/more sophisticated than this.
A very helpful person called Guido has given me some info and in the dim
past he used a PIC to implement this but cannot remember details.
As I cannot find a remote for the tuner It seemed like a neat dea to use an
AVR to translate infra red codes to XS codes to control the unit, never
anticipated the difficulty in finding out the details.

Thanks to all.
Doug.

No, this is an antenna tuner.
