AVR-Chat

I'm using AVR Studio 4.12 (build 498) and an ECROS Technology JTAG ICE
to develop a small project on an ATmega16 using GCC.  Everything was
working well until all of a sudden (and for no apparent reason) the
build process wouldn't complete and gave this error:

gcc plug-in: Error: Object file not found on expected location
C:\AVR\Projects\Thermostat\default\Thermostat.elf

I've deleted all of the files (except for the source) and rebuilt the
project but the error persists.  Can anyone offer a solution?
