Yes, I get the "connect fail" dialog when in AVR Studio and selecting the "Connect" menu item.

When trying to upgrade the firmware using the AVR Prog program I get a "supported programmer not found" dialog.

When using uisp under Linux I get the "programmer not found" message.

I've opened a ticket with Atmel and after following all of their suggestions their recommendation is to get a replacement from the distributor.
