Looking for Eagle library containing the TI TLC59116 LED Sink Driver

Looking for Eagle library containing the TI TLC59116 LED Sink Driver

2010-09-14 by Chuck Hackett

Can anyone point me to an Eagle library that contains the TI TLC59116 LED Sink
Driver?

I have checked the CadSoft site and Googled it without success.

Failing that, does anyone know of a similar device that is in an Eagle library that
I could copy and alter to create the TLC59116?

Cheers,

Hi Chuck,

If you have the datasheet, why don't you just create it yourself? The time
is takes to search for missing parts I find is better used to just create
new from scratch. I am not sure about Eagle as I use Altium Designer, but it
should be straight forward.

Actually I would recommend people to learn how to create library parts as I
gave up a few years ago relying on the built in libraries for PCB design
software and started making my own. This was after I had a PCB made up using
them and the part didn't fit and I have to redo the whole board again. I now
use only the library parts after checking them 100% and even then, I copy
them to a new library of my own so that when I do an update, the parts are
not changed.

Cheers,
Dave.

Ditto. Not only that but if you do it yourself then you know it is right.

As the designer it is *your* responsibly to verify every part you use is correct. That the pinout matches the data sheet. That the part ordered is the correct part. But far too many use prebuilt libraries as a crutch. Its hard to run if you need a crutch to walk.

Dave, David,

Yes, I have created some parts in my own library by copy/paste/edit of packages,
etc. from other libraries but, since I don't have a lot of experience doing it, it
results in a some trial and error which I wanted to avoid. Luckily someone on
another list supplied a library containing the part.

This is a hobby activity for me and Eagle is like mechanical CAD programs - if you
don't use it regularly you lose the ability to get things done in a reasonable time
without having to constantly go back to the documentation, do trial and error, etc.

Yes, I'll have to verify footprint, etc. but at least I have a starting point.
