Finished a 4 hour DL about an hour or so ago. Tried to install in Wine. It
bitched and complained about that there was no .NET framework. It would
behoove Atmel to stop catering to MS and start supporting Linux too. If they
don't start supporting me I most likely start supporting them and go to
Microchip. I have been using AVR for about 10 years. One of the things I
liked about Atmel then was they seemed to support the small companies,
little guys, hobbyists and schools.

I just xfered it to the MS partition and getting ready to install it. I'm
not going to install a bunch of MS products just to get AVRStudio 5. Atmel
read the tag below. I'm moving away from MS not toward it! I may be moving
away from Atmel too!

I tried exactly the same thing. I was told by Studio5 dev team member
on AVRFreaks that .NET will ONLY install on an "official" Windows
installation. Thus, no .NET, and no Studio5 IDE.

They DO say that there are some changes in, especially in the
debugger, that will allow the backend to work better with Eclipse, et-
al. All of THAT is alleged to be cross-platform.
