Well, I use extended COFF. The WinAVR people would like us to move to
DWARF because it is GCC's native format. But I think support for this
was new in AVR Studio 4.10, maybe even at beta level. I think it was
improved in 4.11. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Unfortunately, Atmel tell us to uninstall one version of AVR Studio 4
before installing another. This makes it far less attractive to look to
see if your problem has gone away in the next release. Especially since
4.11 loads a new protocol into your STK500 which is not backward
compatible and breaks a bunch of open source tools. I'm not sure what
to suggest, except to agree that you might provide more information
about what you're seeing.

By the way, I have ascertained that the ICE-Cube is fine with AVR
Studio 4.11. The JTAG interface software is, in fact, unchanged, so it
doesn't even upgrade.

Graham.

I think my problem in viewing arguments was possibly due to AVRStudio having
been up for a long time (days) through many code reloads, etc. I think the
problem went away when I restarted it ... we'll see ...

I am using your ICE-Cube and it seems to be performing effortlessly.
