Didn't know that there were any in the USA. Both Dick Smith and
Tandy in Australia belong now to Woolworths and they have become
pretty much the same....useless...as far as electronics go.
They prefer selling pre made stuff from China and the components
side of Dick Smith is pretty much non existing. I still buy a few
thing from them but it's getting harder to find what one needs.
If you would like to look them up www.dse.com.au

Um, have you guys look at www.futurlec.com.au ? I buy most of my stuff
there because it is so cheap.

They have $4 shipping (orders under $50 or $7 shipping for orders over
$50) - that is for 1-2 week shipping time. (they ship from a warehouse
in Thailand but have an Aussie office for payment processing)

They have these in stock currently:

ATMEGA8515-16JI ATMEGA8515 - ATMega8515 44-Pin 8MHz 8kb Flash Mic
         $5.19
ATMEGA8515L-8PI ATMega8515L 40-Pin 8MHz 8kb 8-bit Microcontroller
                 $7.85

Those are aussie dollars btw. If you are buying in bulk i'd recommend
emailing them to see if they can do a better price.

BTW, I do have a list of all Australian retail parts suppliers I've
found here http://www.users.on.net/~symes/links_tree/links.htm

Jaycar might also have them but prepare to open that wallet wide and
just turn upside down and shake :)

I buy some of my stuff there too.....but....it hurts when I know
I can get M8515 for AUD$3.20 if I had some qty

I would rather have the non L version 16MHz, but it would do
in an emergency.

Electus (Jaycar wholesale) has them for about AUD12.00 and
Soanar has them for about AUD$9.00 for 30 or so (16PI type)

I'm kicking myself for not getting more M8 back in March
for AUD$2.42 now I have to fork out at least AUD$3.80 X;{
But I didn't know I was going to get another 'LARGE" job
that needs a dozen M8 and about 10 M8515...but I'm not
complaining...much :-)
