Heck with health systems. Let's compare something that really means something. After all, we're all still alive, so it seems we're not fully qualified to comment on the respective merits of our health systems (and less qualified to comment on the other ones that haven't been responsible for keeping us alive.) On to the real comparisons... Australian football has American football beat hands-down. All the armor and rests between plays we have here in the U.S. is not only for wimps, it's boring as well. The game has become a vehicle for advertising and gambling rather than an athletic contest. However, Rugby football has them both beat. And if we look at the comparitive level of interest, coverage, and participation in this game the citizens of the U.S. should feel a deep national shame. We were once the Rugby champions of the world, but now look what we've become. "Rugby? What's that?" Our hockey is nothing to write home about, either... -Mark G.
