Hi,

	I need a stand-alone SPI programmer for an ATMega48.
	It will be used in the field for firmware upgrade work.

	Before I start designing one myself, is there some DIY
project available for download somewhere?

You can use a Butterfly with Buttload installed as far as I know.
Very cheap.
