I tried that....no good.....but thanks.
Could some input fuse or something have gone?

I just opened mine up to have a look.  There doesn't appear to be a fuse of any kind, but you might check to make sure the wires that plug into the mainboard are secure.
   
  I'm not an expert on equipment repair, so beyond that there's no more advice I can give.  I have noticed that with some pieces of gear, like the Alesis Quadraverb and the Art X-15 footpedal, wires come loose from their headers every once and a while.
