Boss VF-1 Effect Processor

It looks as though firmware version supports this but I cannot tell what firmware version I have and I am not having much luck setting up the tap tempo.   Is there a way to tell what version I am running?  I rather find out first rather than to attempt an upgrade and risk hosing the unit.  Some quick searches through the group don't come up with much.
