Question on repairing a broken VF1

Question on repairing a broken VF1

2002-01-25 by lithergy

Several months ago my house got hit by lightning destroying all my
PCs, lots of networking equipment, and phones. The only damaged
piece of my music gear was my VF-1. The unit still powers on and
operates properly, just it seems the AD converter was blown since it
gets no audio input from the L+R inputs or the guitar input on the
front. While I'm not absolutely positive the output works, it seems
to my ears that some noise can be heard coming out the outputs that
respond to parameter changes (and if it was just the DA converter,
the digital out would probably be working).

I opened the unit up and looked around for blown chips or if there
were any noticeable marks from where lightning might have hit, also
checked to make sure the inputs were still properly soldered to the
unit - and everything looked perfect.

Anyone have any idea what the costs might be to get the unit
repaired? (insurance bought me another one and I still have the
broken one and would like to have it repaired if the cost wasn't too
high)

Thanks,
Brandon
