RE: [BossVF1] Digest Number 87

hello mate >(2) In Greg's mail, I saw the word - Sitar. Or are there prebuilt >sound patches??? I am really interested to get >Sitar and any other sounds. How do I get those. try downloading dumpster or midi-ox- they are free sysex loaders/savers- which will send the relevant sysex files to the vf-1, if your knew to sysex- its simply midi information which is exclusive to the vf-1, try loading it to another piece of kit and it wont recognise it, its different to your normal smf info which is stuff like note on and control change- its your settings for all the parameters. i take it you've d'loaded the patch zip files from the files section. unzip and load the sysex into dumpster or midi ox- connect the midi out of the vf-1 to the midi in of the pc and the midi out of the pc to the midi in of the vf-1. now set the midi channel of the vf-1 to match the midi channel of the software sequencer (read the section on receiving sysex in the manual to make the right settings in utility mode). you can then load the sysex patches by pressing 'send' on the software sysex app. the vf-1 will receive and save the new patch; if you haven't connected vf-1 via midi to a sequencer do you know that there is a operating system update which amongst other things gives you a new algorithm- a speaker modeller - this is cool!! >This gives >me a feeling that some of these patches can be used >to transform input sounds. exactly, the sitar patch and others are guitar patches meaning you can plug your guitar into the front input (i usually preamplify mine) and voila you can get the sitar sound as mentioned and loads more- i haven't yet tried all the new patches so don't know if there ones for other instruments- voice or keyboard etc but there is no reason you cant plug the keyboard directly into the front- i often do with my synths. usually i have the vf-1 over an aux bus- but for direct processing use an out from the instrument straight in. hope that helps greg ____ Advice line 08454 58 85 58 Events hotline 08454 58 85 57 Website: www.businesslinkwessex.co.uk email: info@...
