Thanks Tim, I will check on the GT-3...you do know you can "back-up" your patchs by doing a midi dump to a sequencer program like cakewalk...etc...use a sysex/midi dump command. Most sequencers have em. --- tharbin <tharbin@...> wrote:

>I also bought it recently and want to share everything about but i don't know how to share patches...... If you're interested in guitar patches and since the VF-1 is similar to the GT3, you can go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/GT-3 and download the GT3 patches from the "Files/Patch Central" section. If they're not available in text format, you can download the GT-3 Editor from the "Files/GT-3 Software" section. Unfortunately, this program will not work with the VF-1, but it will allow you to convert the GT-3 patches from sysex format to text. There are also lots of other useful GT-3 info here that can be applied to the VF-1. It would be really nice if there was a program that would at least save and backup the VF-1 patches, but I don't know of any. If I run across anything, I'll certainly make it available to everyone here. Hope this helps. Tim

Thanks Tony and Steve. I have both Cake walk and Midi-ox. Haven't tried them with the VF-1 though. Thanks for the tip. Tim

well ,thanx for making us know about this program, but i lightly use it,and it deceive by the lack of ergonomy,i think about what a e- magic sound diver (for line 6 pod etc...)is able to do. I hope that e-magic will adapt one version for it (or i don't understand how to use it!)

OK !i found out how to load and send patches with the editor,by transmiting via midiox program(select the patches on the vf-1,go to utility, select in bulk dump mode :temp, then enter ). But there is a big problem:when i open my patches with the editor only the name seem to be correct, all others parameters seems to be not the same as what i wrote(check it out in th files section). So what the trouble,?

Hi Fred, I studied your patches and found that the file structure of it differs from the way this is implemented in the program. I checked with my own VF-1 and found that the "BULK SEND - TEMP" command seems to send some information twice in one dump. This differs from an earlier situation, when i developed the program, and I think it has something to do with an operating system upgrade, changing the way data is dumped from the VF-1. But here's a workaround for it. Load your file in the sysex-view of Midi-OX and delete the first 175 bytes of the file (-- this is everything between - and including - the first byte F0 and the first F7 byte -- ) Note that the F7 byte is marked red, so you won't have trouble finding it in the display. Now save the file, and check if the filesize matches 423 bytes. This file can now be loaded into the editor. Please note that IT is still not possible to edit patches that are not based on the GuitarFX1 algorythm. I've converted some of your patches and they sound cool ! Keep on sending them.
