How i use my VF-1

As a few here have obviously had messages sent to say there is some activity here i will share how i use my VF-1 .
Anyone remember the Crate Powerblock , supposed to be unreliable and sounds rubbish ?
Well i plug my VF-1 straight into the back of a powerblock , there is no colouration from the amp as it is a poweramp , i then use an amp sim from the vf-1 a bit af reverb an a bit of delay . That's pretty much it , i don't really use any of the other effects in it . I do however run the guitar through pedals (mostly overdrive) into the front of the VF-1 first .
It works great for me , i did the same with a Roland GP!00 before i got the VF-! and that worked great also .
They take the pedals well (surprisingly) . i know this won't sound like an expensive valve amp set up but i am using mine at home at VERY low volume and it works . Both the Boss and the powerblock are almost running at the lowest possible volume output and the overdrive pedals (either 3 or 4 stacked) control the volume - ok the last pedal does that really and the ones before it allow me to vary the amount of overdrive (if any) .
I think what i am doing - and have been for years is how people are using the newer gear at home like Kempers and Helix . Low volume goodness . I have a couple of vavle amps , only 5 watt and they are just to loud in the home to work properly , they don't work right at low volume so no point , that's when i switched to the boss unit .
I know using my set up this way i can get a good (enough) sound that is perfectly acceptable for home playing but does anyone know if the newer gear - Kemper or even Boss Katana amps will work good at low volume and i am talking proper low , as in only just over the sound of an unplugged electric guitar.
The boss might last a lifetime - they are certainly well built but it would be good to find an alternative if needed.
